The fairy tale is about the benevolent king Hobu Chandra, the king of Bombagarh, in whose kingdom, peace and prosperity prevail. His prime minister gives him wise counsel for good governance. All’s well in Bombagarh and gets happier when the king gets married to princess Kusumkumari of Chandragarh.
The king and queen wish to have a daughter, and it comes true. Every subject is happy under the king’s reign until there comes a strange man Gobu Chandra. Now, oppression, exploitation, weapons, and war become a reality there and what happens to the king, queen, their family, and their kingdom forms the crux of the story.
