How to Disappear Completely

How to Disappear Completely is a surreal and metaphorical retelling of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The film tells the story of Helena, a young woman who lost her ex-girlfriend, Celeste, in an accident after an argument. Helena then, taken by the ghost of guilt for not having avoided the fight and thus saving Celeste’s life, decides to undergo a procedure that will erase the memories she has of Celeste. From there, the film begins to retell in reverse parts of the trajectory and couple’s memories, from the most recent memory, the fight in which Celeste left the house, to the oldest memory, the fateful day they met. And the longer the procedure continues, the more the memories become distorted and deteriorated, like a film of film that wears out over time. This is a experimental project film done by students from the Federal University from Pará, Brazil.
