Originally titled Las leyes de la frontera (The Laws of the Frontier) after the 2012 novel it’s based on, Outlaws follows the exploits of a close-knit group of petty criminals in 1978 Catalonia, Spain, and the impressionable young man who joins their crew. Outlaws draws on the Spanish Quinqui genre, a ‘70s-era offshoot of the French New Wave that focused on young criminals, fast living, and dangerous romance.
