Love Aaj Kal 2 is a romantic film, which tells the story of Veer (Kartik Aaryan) and Zoe (Sara Ali Khan). The two young and ambitious people meet at a bar and hit it off. They decide to spend the night together, but it ends in a disaster. Zoe refuses to have anything to do with Veer. But Veer keeps following her around in a lovelorn way, and Zoe finally agrees to get into a relationship with him. The boss and owner at the company she works for, Raj Mehta (Randeep Hooda), realizes that all is not well with Veer and her relationship as he can see that Zoe gives more importance to her career. He tells her his own love story, and the movie goes into a flashback into the 1990s where a young Raj is Raghu (Kartik Aaryan also plays the young Raj aka Raghu), and he’s in love with Leena (Arushi Sharma). Their love story doesn’t end well, and Raj is today married to someone else because he did not pursue his love and regrets to this day. He advises Zoe not to lose her love like he did. In the meanwhile, Veer has broken up with Zoe and left to spend two years in the Himalayas. Zoe goes to the Himalayan village in pursuit of him and reunites with him.
