Raat Akeli Hai is a Hindi language murder and suspense drama, set in the backdrop of politics and family intrigue. A powerful local politician is murdered right on the day of his second wedding to a nubile young woman (Radhika Apte). Small time cop Jatil Yadav (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is summoned to investigate the case. As Jatil immerses himself in getting to the root of the murder, he declares that the murder is an inside job and the murderer is someone from within the family. As his investigation deepens, hidden family secrets are out in the open, skeletons tumble out of the closet, and the dysfunctional nature of the family is revealed. The murder weapon is a gun from the victim’s own armour collection, and every family member is revealed to have a reason to murder the wily politician.
