If Frankenstein’s Monster is to the dark side of science, King Kong is to the Great Depression, Alien Invaders (like The Blob and The Thing) is to the Communist Threat, Godzilla is to the bomb, and The Milpitas Monster and Hedorah the Smog Monster are to pollution. Now, this robotic dinosaur made of various technological devices from Japan is to Japanese consumerism and possibly globalization! This is REAGAN’S NIGHTMARE (1982). This is a quirky little fun film created by Peter Wallach. Wallach got into stop motion by watching the original KING KONG. After that, like any other budding filmmaker/animator, he dabbled around with clay to create experiments and evolved into visual storytelling with this technique.
