Sir Syed Ahmed Khan: The Messiah: Volume 1

A biopic inspired by Khwaja Altaf Husain Hali’s authoritative biography, Hayat-e-Javed, which chronicles the life, vision, and mission of the 19th Century Indian Jurist, social reformer and educationist Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. The narrative begins during the 1857 Indian Rebellion, showcasing Sir Syed’s bravery as he saves British officials and civilians, risking his own life. His thoughts on religion, politics, and loyalty to the British government are explored as he navigates these tumultuous times. After the rebellion is suppressed, Sir Syed relocates his family to Meerut, where his mother passes away, leading to flashbacks of his childhood and early life. Following his promotion, Sir Syed moves to Moradabad in 1858, where he dedicates himself to reforms. He releases prisoners, restores confiscated lands, and writes the influential pamphlet, Asbab-e-Baghawat-e-Hind, explaining the causes of the rebellion. Inspired by Mirza Ghalib, he establishes the first madrasa in Moradabad to uplift Indians from ignorance. Despite personal tragedies, including the loss of his wife, Sir Syed remains steadfast in his mission. In Ghazipur, Sir Syed establishes another madrasa and a Scientific Society to translate scholarly works. His efforts continue in Aligarh, where he moves in 1864 and initiates the Aligarh Institute Gazette in 1866. By 1875, he lays the foundation of the M.A.O. College, now known Aligarh Muslim University, overcoming opposition and challenges. Throughout his life, Sir Syed faces criticism, social boycotts, and fatwas but remains committed to education and communal harmony. The series culminates with his passing 27th March 1898, marking the end of an era for a man who became a symbol of reform and progress in India.
