It is a limited documentary series chronicling the very public trials of the torture and killing of a young eight-year-old boy Gabriel Fernandez, at the hands of his own mother and her boyfriend. For months, the tiny soul received unspeakable abuse from his mother Pearl Fernandez and her boyfriend Isauro Aguirre. The two were arrested after the death of the boy. The trials that followed their arrest revealed shocking details of the torture that the boy went through. They were also a damning indictment of the system, its child protection policy and the care-givers who failed to notice the signs of the torture that had been going on for months before the boy finally died of it.
