Time follows a woman Sibil Fox Richardson as she fights for her husband’s release from the Louisiana State Penitentiary. Sibil and her husband Robert had committed a robbery back in the early nineties, as an act of desperation. After serving three and a half years in jail for her role in the crime, Fox Rich spent the next two decades campaigning for the release of her husband, who is currently serving a 60 year prison sentence. American film maker Garrett Bradley is the director behind the feature documentary of the entrepreneur, abolitionist and mother of six boys. Fox Rich had provided Bradley with mini DV tapes with over 100 hours of home video footage which she recorded over the past 18 years. Bradley adds the home footage in Time along with some original footage she shot on a Sony FS7 camera and finished it in black and white. Time premiered before the coronavirus outbreak at the Sundance Film Festival on January 25th 2020, where it won the best U.S. Documentary Directing Award. The film features original score compositions by Jamieson Shaw and Edwin Montgomery and has music by Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou that was recorded back in the 1960s.
