Bloody Beggar, starring Kavin Raj and directed by Sivabalan Muthukumar narrates the story of a beggar and how his life is changed by the coming of a twist. The film is a major Indian release during the Diwali weekend. The film is a revolutionary one with a beggar as the central character and not a elevated hero. This becomes the USP of the film which can lead into its success. Although, with the presence of some more popular titles, it will become difficult for it to shine.
The film does not have a great star cast, neither any commercially selling point in it. The fact that the use of a beggar as protagonist is revolutionary like Arthur Miller’s tragedy Death of a Salesman, but it is not enough to generate a great hype around it. If it had been a week ago for the film’s release, its marketing strategy would have been enough, but considering the films that will be released in its proximity, the film needs more to do some good earning.
The film will be released on 31st October, when films like Amaran and Bagheera will be released in the Southern industry. Also, Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will be released the next day, expecting a huge welcome nationally. These films have pretty huge hype around them ensuring a great reception. In the meanwhile, a good film like Bloody Beggar will be pushed to oblivion amidst these giants.
All the above-mentioned films have a good hype around them increasing their chances of success. In Book My Show, Amaran has 171k people interested for it, while Bagheera has 102k people interested. Compared to them, Bloody Beggar has a meager interestedness of 11k people. The numbers further widen when considering national releases.
The team of Bloody Beggar need to focus on their marketing in order to make the film a decent success in the box office. Though the film is a good one, it cannot succeed when clashing with the giant releases head on without proper hype around it.
