Can Kanguva Make It To the International Audience?

The Indian cinema is gearing up itself for an international audience as it stretches out to tap a much bigger international market as Kanguva, it would soon be released on November 14th with Suriya as the lead, and the movie will be dubbed into English, French, Spanish, and Russian, feels like a very bold move, and the question that one is led to ask here is whether Kanguva can work outside of India.

Moved by the popularity of Indian blockbusters such as RRR, Kanguva wants to reach out to its target group, and possibly the non-native viewers too, as by reducing the barriers of language; possibly making them choose to opt for the dubbed content rather than subtitles.

The movie plot, promising to combine fantasy with Indian mythology, revolves around a hero possessing magical fire abilitiies. Although it is a very popular theme in India, it would be cumbersome to make it go well with audiences from other countries, who are unaware of the subtle cultural nuances behind it. To be appealing to an international audience, it needs to be more of Baahubali, focusing on universal themes such as courage and sacrifice.

Kanguva, which reportedly budgets over ₹300 crores, promises spectacular action, big graphics, and a stirring score by Devi Sri Prasad. The star power of Suriya and his performance are probably what will make it a big attraction to fans all over the world. But for it to become unforgettable, though, its narrative must emotionally touch the viewer’s soul beyond the smashing images.

As Lapata Ladies’ latest big release in Japan has come out, the cinema of India is becoming popular worldwide day by day. It indicates how much popularity the Indian films are getting all over the globe with new productions, which draw viewers from different parts of the world. The global reach of Indian films is also because of the peculiarity in their storytelling and the cultural diversity.

It is reaching out to a global audience through its audio tracks it has included in multiple languages. Though that will be the real test when it can tell an interesting story good enough to carry out with the masses and yet believable. Kanguva may just be the next Indian film that will grab attention worldwide also if it gets the right balance. This will unlock more international film productions also.
