Can Soodhu Kavvum Repeat Its 2013 Success?

Vijay Sethupathi delivered a classic performance in Soodhu Kavvum released back in 2013. Being a black comedy film circling a crime, the makers took a risk by putting out a sleek and edgier story in front of the fans back then. However, the film turned the tables for everyone being a massive hit in regional audiences.

11 long years of wait and here comes its much-awaited sequel in the theatres. Soodhu Kavvum 2: Naadum Naatu Makkalum is approaching to blast at the theatres this December. This time, leading the front line is Mirchi Shiva directed by SJ Arjun.

MS Bhaskar, Radharavi, and Karunakaran are also in prominent roles alongside Shiva. Given the success of the first part, this sequel promises to be another masterpiece with a compelling and blunt plot. What made the first part successful was the organic performances which connected with the viewers.

Giving fans instant black comedy from the very first scene was a tough job but that’s what the first part gave to the fans. Shiva looks solid in the early teasers of the film and might have a splendid performance in store. However, given the nature of sequels mostly being underwhelming as compared to the original, this film will certainly fumble while matching the success of the first film.

Fans of black comedy dramas would surely give this film a go and positive word of mouth would be the sole factor for the film to become a hit. It remains to be seen how it turns out to be on December 13th as Shiva’s much-awaited sequel hits the theatres.
