India is witnessing a new wave of films positioning themselves as Pan-India films. The formula is simple: a film that appeals to both northern and southern audiences or a film that finds success in both regions is labeled as a Pan-India film. Fascinating, right?
But most Indian films are missing the mark. And this is where Kanguva is doing something right.
Hiring a big star from the north? Check.
But that’s where most films stop. Northern films are satisfied with a southern star in the cast, and southern films follow the same format. The big flaw? They don’t promote it.
Kanguva producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja made an ambitious statement: “I am expecting a 2000-crore box office collection. Why are you underestimating it with the 1000-crore mark?”
Even if you take that with a grain of sarcasm, it’s certainly a confident claim. Though even the ₹1000-crore mark seems like a tough nut to crack, especially since the average time films spend in theaters has significantly decreased.
But are the makers of Kanguva leaving any stones unturned? Not at all.
The audio launch of the film is scheduled for October 26th, and guess who will be making an appearance? Prabhas and Rajinikanth.
On top of that, the film promises to be grand at every stage, with the makers assuring fans that they can expect a nationwide promotion. The movie is also targeting a 3D release in 10 different languages, which is absolutely massive.
But on a serious note, can the film succeed in the market? Regionally, Suriya and Bobby Deol can draw audiences, but if they want to even reach half of that ₹2000-crore box office goal, they’ll need to go all out with the promotion.
