Karthi and Arvind Samy starrer ‘Meiyazhagan’ released in theatres a couple of days ago and received mostly positive response from both viewers and critics who praised the film for being such a heartwarming watch.
But the moviegoers also had a compliant and that was particularly for the film’s second half which wasn’t as smooth and free flowing as the first. This made the post interval part a bit boring thereby resulting in people losing interest in an otherwise emotionally captivating film.
Taking the feedback into consideration positively and to improve the overall viewing experience, makers of ‘Meiyazhagan’ have now trimmed the film by 18 minutes making the film’s new runtime to be 2 hours and 40 minutes, as per reports. The attempt is to make the film more engaging and entertaining for the viewers.
Directed by C. Prem Kumar, ‘Meiyazhagan’ follows the journey of a 40 year old man who revisits his hometown which he had to abandon decades ago due to misfortune. There he meets a relative who makes his bitter-sweet homecoming better and so much so that when this journey ends is where his life begins.
Produced by Jyothika and Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, ‘Meiyazhagan’ stars Karthi in the titular role alongside Arvind Swamy, Rajkiran, Sri Divya, Swathi Konde, Devadarshini, Jayaprakash, Sriranjani, Ilavarasu, Karunakaran and Saran Shakthi. ‘Meiyazhagan’ is currently running in cinemas and will be available for streaming on Netflix post theatrical run.
