If there is something that avid fans of South Indian cinema have proved time and time again, it is their almost God-like faith in their superstars. While this leads to a rejuvenating film experience, every time a big name comes back to screen, it also sometimes eclipses the lackluster quality of the film, itself.
However, as more and more viewers are becoming inclined towards original scripts, this at-times-unjustified loyalty to their favorite stars can be seen declining steadily. Take the case of two Tamil-language films currently running in theatres: Rajinikanth’s ‘Vettaiyan’ and ‘Black’, KG Balasubramani’s sci-fi thriller directorial.
While the former is undoubtedly performing well at the box-office, it has not quite lived up to the hype it seemingly had the potential for. On the other hand, however, ‘Black’, starring Jiiva, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Yog Japee has been outperforming to the point that it is consistently been allocated more and more shows.
What’s more is that there are numerous theatres that are reportedly playing double the number of shows for ‘Black’, as compared to ‘Vettaiyan’. While sure, it’s box-office collections aren’t comparable with those of ‘Vettaiyan’, this is a considerable feat to achieve in itself.
Additionally, the film’s earning have been steady, which is indicative of the fact that the film is in for a long theatrical run. Which is also to say, it is well hoped that the film isn’t quick to have an OTT release, just yet.

A sci-fi thriller in the lines of black holes & multiverse.

The plot may confuse at times, but neatly connected scenes happening in parallel reality are highlight💥
