Why To Watch Pechi On Indian OTT

The horror genre has truly captivated audiences over time and certain regional movies have surely made their way to the top of the horror movies list. Another such movie that could have exceeded the expectations was the Tamil film Pechi.

Ramachandran B. is the writer and director of the 2024 Indian horror film Pechi, which is filmed in Tamil. In addition to Preethi Nedumaran and Dev Ramnath in supporting parts, the film stars Gayathrie and Bala Saravanan. It was released on August 2nd in theatres and had mixed reviews upon its release.

The story follows five youthful hikers who head off on a weekend trip in the Kollimalai hills with the help of their tour guide. They ignore warnings and enter the domain of a malignant spirit when they wander into a restricted part of the Aranmanai Forest. The terrifying meeting with the mysterious power and their battle to survive in the haunted woods are depicted in the film.

According to several viewers and critics, the film delivered some chills but overall was not able to stand out as a great horror film. The movie is based on a short film that was directed by renowned director Balu Mahendra. Witchcraft and other ancient rituals are the main thrilling factors of the movie.

After an underwhelming box office run, the film is all set to take over OTT screens with its release on two major platforms. It premieres September 20th on Aha Tamil as well as Prime Video giving it a wider audience.
