As Jr. NTR’s mega film Devara is nearing towards the end of its theatrical run, the film has been in limelight for most of the time. Having over Rs 450 crores worldwide collection, the film has been decent at the box office being NTR’s highest grossing solo film.
Despite having mixed reviews for the film with viewers criticizing the film’s plot and sloppy screenplay, the reviews mostly have been positive about the film. As the film sets up for its OTT release this November, it is surely a topic of discussion as to how it will perform in OTT and will it be able to beat Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 A.D.
Speaking of Kalki, the film was a critical hit while it had its flaws. The movie swiftly rose to the top of the Amazon Prime Video streaming charts after debuting at number five.
On Netflix, Kalki 2898 broke a new record for any Hindi-dubbed movie with an incredible 13.1 million viewing hours on Netflix within six days of its digital release.
Responses to Kalki 2898 AD have been conflicting since it was made available digitally. Some felt Arshad was correct in his recent evaluation of Prabhas’ character Bhairava, while others felt the movie had its strong points.
Despite having such reviews, the film performed well on OTT securing the number one spot on the charts for quite few time.
Given the reviews for Devara, we can expect to see the film having the same response from the audience as Kalki had upon its OTT release. Hard hitting action might uplift Devara’s potential even more and leave a huge impact bigger than Kalki.
It remains to be seen how Devara will capture the audience upon its release and how it manages to overcome Prabhas’s action starrer.
