Swag, a Telugu film starring Sree Vishnu, is coming to Amazon Prime Video on November 4, 2024, after its initial theatrical release on October 4. Directed by Hasith Goli, the movie brings a mix of comedy and social issues like gender equality in a story that features Vishnu in five distinct roles. His performances have been well-received, even though reactions to the film’s complex plot have been mixed.
The story is ambitious, but difficult to follow nonetheless because of the extensive number of characters and scenes spanning different time periods. Ritu Varma’s character, for instance, has a historical narrative attached, introducing layers that have left some viewers feeling lost. Another point of discussion is the film’s pacing, as some viewers expected a tighter and clearer narrative.
Goli’s is a bold direction; he aims to tell a story much different from the usual fashion in tackling social issues. While some would really dig on this fresh direction, others think it would’ve been better with simpler storytelling.
