‘Devara’ has become the biggest solo release of NTR Jr. and also the biggest film in Janhvi Kapoor’s filmography. It came out as a blockbuster in Telugu and made decent numbers in other languages as well. It went down a little in Kannada or Malayalam, but the Hindi version was a big hit too.
And are there any chances that the movie will be as big as this when it comes out on OTT as well? ‘Devara’ is rumoured to be premiering on Netflix on the 8th of November, but there are no official confirmations yet.
The intrigue is not there anymore, and there is little probability that the Hindi audiences will find this movie attractive anymore. The curiosity and hype, also the timing of release made it quite a buzzy title in the northern regions. But that will not probably be the same for OTT. In case of Malayalam too, there are little to no chances. Telugu viewers, fans, and hero-worshippers will be giving it many rewatches, that is for sure. But Tamil and Kannada audiences too are probably not revisiting the film again.
The word of mouth has not worked out in favour of the movie, if it had something better than just viral songs, ‘Devara’ would have been a big OTT hit too. But its story and screenplay have not contributed much to the massive business it has done.
