Well known production house Applause Entertainment led by Sameer Nair has joined hands with acclaimed filmmaker Kabir Khan’s film banner Kabir Khan Films. As per the deal, the two will collaborate on two films.
Khan will direct the two films and also serve as the creative producer for both. Further details of this partnership and the films to be made under it have been kept under wraps for now and is expected to be revealed soon.
Aditya Birla group backed Applause Entertainment has some phenomenal credits in the series category. The latest being Netflix’s ’Black Warrant’ which also featured in Netflix Top 10 Non-English shows globally.
Applause is the same banner which has produced superhit shows like ‘Criminal Justice’, ‘Hostages’, ‘Scam 1992’, ‘Mithya’, ‘Tanaav’ and more. It has also co-produced various acclaimed films such as ‘Black’, ‘The Rapist’, ‘Zwigato’, etc.
As for Kabir Khan, he began his directorial career in 2006 with ‘Kabul Express’ and later went on to helm various hit films like ‘New York’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Tubelight’ and ‘83’. His latest film ‘Chandu Champion’ starring Kartik Aaryan and based on the life of India’s first Paralympics gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, though not a box office success did receive critical acclaim. His upcoming work includes ‘The Diplomat’ starring John Abraham.
