Bhool Bhulaiyaa has set a very high standard in the horror-comedy genre. The perfect mixture of humor and spine-tingling horror marked it as an instant classic when the original movie arrived. Akshay Kumar’s iconic performance, alongside this very memorable storyline, set the mark so high that even further sequels find it challenging to meet that high.
Now, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is coming, and therefore, the expectations have already gone sky-high. With Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri in the lead roles, this latest installment will have a lot to do to recapture the fun and excitement that the past sequels offered.
However, a cloud of skepticism hangs over it. First, the benchmark set by the first one has been very difficult to match; second, the sequels generally falter when they try to repeat the magic of the first. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 would, therefore, easily be dismissed as predictable unless it offers something new or surprising.
One major insight from the film is that selling out all the tickets doesn’t automatically mean that a movie is going to do well at the box office. It all depends on reviews and word of mouth, which really decide the film’s fortune.
Although Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will have the backing of the franchise’s devoted fan base, it will be put to the ultimate test after the first enthusiasm fades and real reviews begin to appear.
But then Singham Again will be some stiff competition. The promotions though not too strong, cop universe created by Rohit Shetty has already gone on to break all records at the box office so far.
Movies like Singham 1 and Singham 2 have managed to enthral the crowds time and again. With Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn in the same fray, the thunder from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 would go astray.
Well, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 bears with it the legacy of the one lovely franchise but is bestowed the unenviable task to fulfil expectations and above, intense competition.
Would it be able to get in touch with the spark in the original or predictably fall into the pot will soon be known. That opinion will finally come in, from the audience which defines whether it is hit, or just another sequel.
