The promotion of “Jigra” is in full swing, making fans anticipate their longing for a good action movie with a female lead. With the people involved in its making, it seems that this time they can genuinely give us a female action star. This could be a game changer in many ways.
Even before “Jigra”, we have seen women performing some crazy action, though these were not full-fledged action roles; they were definitely impressive.
The first name that comes to mind is Rani Mukerji’s character in “Mardaani”. She plays a strong IPS officer who engages in intense fights with the antagonist, portrayed by Vishal Jethwa. While “Mardaani” can be considered one of the first successful female-led action movies, it leans more towards a thriller than pure action.
Another notable character is Supri from the underrated Vasan Bala film “Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota”, played by Radhika Madan. She is a confident girl who wouldn’t hesitate to take on goons.
Katrina Kaif as Zoya in the YRF Spy Universe is probably the only better-utilized female character. Her skills in action scenes in “Tiger Zinda Hai” were a pleasure to watch.
Apart from these, there are many other characters, such as Agent Tina in “Vikram” and Kangana Ranaut in “Manikarnika”, who have also showcased impressive action sequences. Do let us know your favourite female characters!
