Directed by J P Dutta in 1997 “Border” was a humongous success starring Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry and Puneet Issar.
The film had a final domestic net total of ₹394 million. The film won several awards at different award functions. It received 11 nominations at the 43rd Filmfare Awards, including Best Film, Best Director for J.P. Dutta and Best Actor for Sunny Deol.
“Border” is one of the greatest movies, with melodious songs and a true sense of passion towards the country.
So, it’s fair to say that “Border” is one of the cultural phenomenons that happened in Indian Cinema.
But now after all these years J P Dutta is back with the sequel of “Border” and titled it “Border 2”.
Today T series dropped a beautiful teaser of the movie showing a glimpse of the previous movie and with absolutely beautiful background music which brings back the nostalgia.
The video showcased the mantra of the movie, “For Duty, For Honour, For Country”.
But, the surprise of this teaser was that “Ahaan Shetty”, son of Suniel Shetty who was in the original movie, is joining the team of “Border 2”.
This could be a big break for Ahaan’s career because before this his graph in terms of movies was not that high. He debuted with “Tadap” with Tara Sutaria.
The cast of “Border 2” includes Varun Dhawan, Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and now Ahan Shetty.
Sunny Deol in his Instagram welcomed Ahan with the caption , “Welcome Fauj to the Battalion of Border 2”.
But one question still arises, will “Border 2” be able to stand on the high ground which “Border” hassert for us?
“Border 2” is scheduled to release on January 23rd, 2026, marking 27 years of “Border”.
