The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is developing a plan to establish a massive film production studio, similar to those in Hollywood, with a government-backed investment of Rs 10,000 crore (Rs 100 billion).
More than a million new jobs in the entertainment sector would result from this.
At least 500,000 of these positions may be of a high caliber, paying between Rs 50,000 and Rs 300,000 per month. Additionally, it will contribute to India becoming a global center for post-production of motion pictures.
Although there are more than ten megastudios in Hollywood, Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad is the biggest in India. Establishing a mega studio in the nation has the potential to generate a great deal of employment in the film and entertainment sectors. This might result in a sharp increase in employment in the sector, from the present 2.5 million to 3.5 million.
Among other things, the government has funded capital expenditures for the construction of factories and the expansion of railroad wagons. At the end of 2023, the media and entertainment sector in India was valued at Rs 2.3 trillion, up 8% from the year before. In 2026, it is anticipated to reach Rs 3.08 trillion, as per a March estimate published by FICCI-E&Y. 200,000 hours of material were produced by the sector last year.
The Government aims to create several opportunities for new and upcoming creators which will surely have a huge positive impact on the Entertainment sector.
