This year, we witnessed a scam during exam season, particularly involving medical entrance exams. These are some of the toughest exams to crack. Hence as a result, many foul plays occur around them. “Halahal”, a movie directed by Randeep Jha, is based on a similar incident, the Vyapam scam, which shocked the nation.
The movie takes its name from the powerful poison that emerged from the ocean during the “Samudra Manthan”. The story follows a man whose daughter, a medical student, goes missing. He, along with a police officer, played by Barun Sobti, embarks on a mission to uncover the truth. The film immerses you in a world where no character can truly be called good. Everyone is driven by their own self-interests.
The movie portrays the harsh reality of society, where even if you try to avoid entering the dark side, you’re inevitably pulled into it. What begins as a seemingly simple story soon reveals numerous twists and turns, with a final revelation that will leave you deeply shocked.
The movie’s strongest aspects are its dialogues and the standout performances by Barun Sobti and Sachin Khedekar. Their chemistry works exceptionally well. The cinematography and editing are sharp, making the scenes engaging and impactful. “Halahal” is definitely worth a watch and is available on Eros Now.
