The initial days of October won’t be witnessing a Bollywood film until 11th of October. On 11th, two titles will be released together namely Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Wo Wala Video (VVKWWV). Both the films are mainstream films with a good star cast which can lure in audiences. Where VVKWWV promises a family entertainer, Jigra is more of a bold action film. It becomes interesting to note which of the two films will get an edge on the box office.
In terms of star power only, Alia Bhatt who stars in Jigra has more value than both Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri. She has long been a part of the industry and has given many superhit films. Even her recent works in films like Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR etc. have all been huge hits. But one cannot forget the performances of Rajkummar and Tripti in the past one year. Rajkummar was seen in multiple movies this year and all of them were hits. In fact, his recent film Stree 2 broke the record for the highest grossing Hindi movie ever. Tripti too has been in limelight recently with Animal and the recent re-release of Laila Majnu.
The supporting actors in both movies are not someone who can gather a crowd. But VVKWWV has a star-studded cast that makes it watch worthy. Mallika Sherawat especially adds to the cast with her character reminding us of Welcome. The cast is filled with great actors of the comedy genre including Vijay Raaz, Archana Puran Singh and Tiku Talsania. On the other hand, Jigra does not promise that good of a supporting cast.
VVKWWV has another edge over Jigra with it being a family friendly film. The film promises to have 97% of the content to be family friendly. So this will be a film which people will watch with their families as a vacation activity. Jigra, being a bold and action film, may have contents unsuitable for children and hence a significant amount of viewership will be lost in the process.
Both the films are ready to clash on 11th October and though the final results will be evident only after their release; still the speculations and impressions regarding the films show that VVKWWV might have a better chance of succeeding than Jigra.
