With the success of films like RRR and Pushpa: The Rise, Indian cinema is witnessing an influx of pan-India blockbusters. The new buzz in town is Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule and Suriya’s Kanguva, both of which are soon to hit the screens. However, only one of them can be the next great pan-India smash.
A surprise hit, worldwide profits had nearly reached Rs. 350 crore at The Rise. The movie further reached fame with Allu Arjun’s legendary role in it, which generated immense hope for Pushpa 2. Allu Arjun’s legendary role for the movie has further expanded its popularity and generated high hope for Pushpa 2. Meanwhile, as an indicator of Suriya’s move into the vast market, Kanguva is a fantasy-action epic blending high-stakes action, historical drama, and sports fiction, with a whopping Rs. 300 crore in budget.
The devoted audience from the first movie did push some advantage for Pushpa 2. And significantly, in the Hindi-speaking places, there is some crowd for the harder “Pushpa Raj” that Allu Arjun played on screen. So it is totally different yet again, and here again is the fantasy being given up for the Suriya fan, with fantastic visuals, which does put up some risk due to its novelty over to Suriya himself.
Pushpa 2 directly addresses huge markets and has an enormous level of pre-release buzz. Whether it will work, though, depends on doing something more than merely reproducing the original movie. Kanguva, if emotional enough, may bring that newness in a sense as Baahubali or RRR did to people looking for new stuff
The push of it going ahead, at present due to fan following can benefit Pushpa 2 but both of them look great to run successfully; there is an opportunity through the dark horse Kanguva because this film carries some surprises, and above all, whatever movie shocks its Indian viewers more wins in the final sense.
