In the film industry, there is no business like the business of nostalgia!
Whether it’s the re-release of classic films or the making of new sequels to old favourite movies, the formula remains the same—tap into nostalgia.
While sequels to older films can be hit-or-miss, the re-release of timeless favourites rarely fails to become a hit among the audiences. Over the years, iconic movies like Sholay, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Tumbbad, and several Shah Rukh Khan classics have returned to theatres to celebrate their legacy.
The most recent re-release is Karan Arjun, marking a historic moment as the first Hindi film to re-release simultaneously in India and overseas.
After the last onscreen appearance of the two khans together in Pathaan, Karan Arjun’s re-release has been nothing short of a blockbuster event. With screenings in 1,114 theatres across India and 2,208 shows running, fans are flooding theatres to experience the film on the silver screen. Overseas, it has an impressive number of 250 shows per day.
These numbers are nothing less than spectacular, serving as a grand tribute to the film and its legendary stars.
In recent weeks, two other Shah Rukh Khan films, Pardes and Kal Ho Naa Ho, have also made their way back to theatres. Each has enjoyed considerable success, fueling waves of nostalgia and reeling audiences back into the theatres to experience the magic of these cinematic gems.
