History keeps repeating itself and it may give everyone a fair chance to prove their worth. Just take the case of Shahrukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The two came together in 2002 to give us the magnanimous and mighty Devdas.
Who could have imagined the scale of grandiose Sanjay Leela Bhansali pulled? But he did and the rest is history.
5 years later. The two clashed at the box office for the first time. It was with Om Shanti Om and Saawariya. Needless to say, Saawariya is the weakest and perhaps the only bad film Bhansali has ever directed and it caused the movie to become a disaster. On the other hand, Om Shanti Om became a big success despite being so illogical.
History repeated itself.
In 2015, they clashed again with Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale. While Bhansali’s epic romance was a magnanimous showdown, Dilwale was almost a cringe-fest. That’s why Bhansali won not only at the box office but also swept all the awards.
So the score is 1-1.
But the fun begins. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has Shahrukh Khan clashing again. This time on Eid 2026 i.e. 20th March 2026.
Shahrukh Khan’s “King” and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Love and War” are coming on the same date.
King stars Shahrukh Khan with his daughter Suhana Khan while Abhishek Bachchan will play the antagonist.
“Love and War”, on the other hand, stars Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
Both films are extremely promising, and they have the potential to be great entertainers. Shahrukh Khan is rightly called the “King” and Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for story of Kings and Queens.
Let’s see who wins. King or Kingmaker.
