From an earlier scheduled theatrical release on 18 October, the film’s release has now faced bottlenecks, disappointing fans who were eager to feast their three decades old 1993 Japanese-Indian anime classic a new shiny 4K look. But as the story goes-it’s all worked into the entire plan, so when it finally hits the theatres, it reaches a far greater audience.
So what’s the deal? The animated gem, which blends Japanese anime artistry with the deeply revered Indian epic, has been set to release with fresh Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs alongside its original English version. Geek Pictures India, in partnership with AA Films and Excel Entertainment, announced the new release date has been pushed back. It all ultimately comes down to ensuring the movie finds its way into way more cinemas across India, which in all honesty is not a bad justification.
In a message shared on their Instagram, Geek Pictures India said that they are incredibly grateful for the love that has come flowing in already in favor of the release. The reason cited is “enormous enthusiasm from fans across the country.” To them, it’s all about making sure this legendary tale finds its way to every corner of India, and a little more patience might actually be worth it for it.
The ramayana anime imbibes, however, the commanding of a host of Indian audiences, accentuated by Arun Govil, Namrata Sawhney, and bafflingly the iconic Amrish Puri’s voice overs of Ram, Sita, and Raavan respectively.
It’s more than just a movie; it’s a cultural piece that’s finally being restored and brought back to the people who cherish it the most. Now, we’ll just have to wait a bit longer for that new release date!
