The Future of Hindi Stars: Part 1

The Future of Hindi Stars: Part 1

The transition of Hindi cinema has been quite rough. The star system of Bollywood, which began with Raj Kapoor, continued through the reign of the Khans. During the early 2010s, the arrival of next-gen actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh gave us glimpses of hope, but none of them could reach the heights of the Khans. Hence, we started to realize that the era of superstars might be coming to an end.

The industry must now find a new set of actors who have the potential to become the flag bearers of the industry. With audiences gradually accepting fresh faces, we are witnessing the rise of a new generation of actors. Today, we will look at the younger actors who have the potential to become superstars of the decade. By analyzing their filmography and upcoming projects, we can gauge their projected careers.

Let’s start with an actor who recently gave the biggest Hindi blockbuster of all time: Rajkummar Rao. This man has an impressive filmography with content-driven movies like “Shahid”, “Aligarh”, “Trapped”, and “Newton”. There’s no doubt that he is a powerhouse of talent, capable of excelling in both serious and comic roles. After the super success of “Stree 2”, his next movie with Tripti Dimri, titled “Vicky aur Vidya ka Wo Wala Video”, is releasing soon. His lineup also includes a no-nonsense gangster drama titled “Maalik”, which looks promising.

Another actor in the queue is Ayushmann Khurrana, who has practically developed a genre of his own. His films like “Dum Laga Ke Haisha”, “Bala”, “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan”, and more have been major successes in social dramas. Apart from that, he has also impressed in serious films like “Article 15”, “Andhadhun”, and “An Action Hero”. His upcoming movie, “Vampire of Vijaynagar”, a horror comedy, is highly anticipated, especially after the success of “Stree 2”.

Next, we have Varun Dhawan, who started his career with hits like “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania”, “Main Tera Hero”, and “ABCD 2”. Unfortunately, his recent ventures haven’t been as successful, and his upcoming lineup doesn’t seem particularly exciting. Films like “Baby John” (a remake of “Theri”) and “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari” have generated little enthusiasm. To regain his prime, he must collaborate with brilliant filmmakers, similar to what he did with “Badlapur” and “October”.

Sidharth Malhotra is another actor who has seen many ups and downs in his career. On one hand, he has delivered successful movies like “Ek Villain” and “Kapoor and Sons”. On the other hand, he has a long list of flops, including “Marjaavaan”, “Mission Majnu”, and “Thank God”. He surprised everyone with his heartfelt performance in *Shershaah*, but since then, nothing has worked in his favor. However, the silver lining is that he’s in talks with excellent directors like Meghna Gulzar and Jeethu Joseph. His role in the upcoming “Race 4” has also been confirmed, which keeps hopes high for his future.

Apart from these actors, there are many more to discuss, and we will cover them in Part 2 of this article. Do let us know your thoughts!
