It seems like Rahi Anil Barve’s ‘Tumbbad’ broke its own record.
The cult classic horror movie “Tumbbad” is a spine chilling tale of greed and lust. The film teaches you a valuable lesson, that greed for something can lead you to a certain success but the trap lies ahead if you give into the temptation then only it’ll fully consume you.
Released in 2018, with the budget of 15cr the motive of the film didn’t connect with the audience to that level, because at the same time movies like “Loveyatri”, “Simba”, “Badhaai Ho” was released as well, so it’s very vivid why “Tumbbad” didn’t connect with the fans.
Back then in 2018 audiences were smitten over some love, action and drama and “Tumbbad” being a completely different genre didn’t fit into that category.
But now with Bollywood’s re-release trend starting with “Laila Majnu” which became a superhit, by popular demand “Tumbbad” was again re-released.
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve’s ‘Tumbbad’ starring Sohum Shah, is now not only a “Cult Classic” but now it has a super strong fandom which asks for “Tumbbad 2”.
Set in a rural village of Maharashtra, surrounding a mythical creature Haster who has all the golds of the world, our main protagonist Vinayak Rao falls into the trap of greed and the end result is known to all.
When the movie was initially released it grossed only 12.44 cr, but upon its re-release the movie broke its own record grossing 13.44 cr in this weekend.
Partly the reason being, right now the audience has different tastes now they are enjoying folklore related movies, being a prominent example “Stree 2”.
As we all know the tables can turn anytime, you just have to sit in the chair and wait for the time to come.
