The year of 2024 has seen a lot of violence in the movies. Starting from Animal which shows the protagonist on a carnage, to Kill which is filled with brutal kills and deaths. The filmography of the year mostly dealt either with kills and brutal murders, or with heinous crimes or both. The trend will however reach the summit in the month of October.
The month of October will see the release of many films filled with crimes, violence, blood and gore. The national as well regional cinema seem to follow this trend. National cinema like Jigra will use violence in full-fledged manner with a female protagonist. Regional films like Vettaiyan and Martin that are supposed to cause national upheaval too are accompanied by violence, crime and action. As per reports, these movies surely will see success considering their pre-release reception by the audience.
Also the regional films of October seem to be inclined towards the same trend. Be it Marathi films like Yek Number, Bengali films like Tekka, Odia Films like Karma and Villan, Tamil films like Amaran etc. In films of every region this month action, violence and crime will be common. One can call it the endeavor by (especially) regional cinema to make movies that have been the top performers in the year. Action and violent films, in this regard, are quite easy to replicate with a similar template in most of the films.
However, the makers should also keep in mind one thing that anything in access becomes tasteless after a certain point of time. The same can be expected of this trend as well. People were happy even when such films were recurring from time-to-time this year. But when you release multiple films with similar templates in the same month, it can bore the audience for sure. It is a high possibility that the films releasing this month will witness similar fate.
Hence, though makers have been quite successful with violent and action films this year; releasing so many films of the same genre in the same month without a break will result in the audience getting bored. The most loss in this scenario will be incurred to the regional filmmakers.
