It is often said that no publicity is bad publicity. While sure, that might be true in most cases, it might also not be in many. Take the case of Anees Bazmee’s upcoming film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’.
Solely built and marketed so far as nostalgia bait, considering that the original Priyadarshan directorial ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ is often earmarked as a comedic masterpiece, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ isn’t sitting quite well with audiences. This is despite the fact that the upcoming feature will star Kartik Aryan, Tripti Dimri, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, Vijay Raaz, and Rajpal Yadav in prominent roles.
Moreover, the fact that the trailer seems to be made for a concept entirely unoriginal to the OG ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ doesn’t help either. For a celebrated psychological horror-comedy, it seems as though the film has been reduced to the constricts of the latter genre. To flip the narrative and make this upcoming feature lucrative to viewers, the trailer could at least have been made more nuanced.
Sure, it garnered huge numbers across various platforms, but there have been several comments guessing at the obvious plot twist already! Which is to say, the only thing that will help truly boost ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’s viewing numbers once it hits screens on November 1, is if what the audience is guessing, doesn’t come true.
