Yudhra, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan is about to be released on 20th September. The movie is an action based pretty intense one, with a lot of violent scenes. The actual plot for the movie has not been revealed as of now as its trailer too focuses more on the action sequences from the film. The question arises, is mere action and violence enough to make the film a hit venture; or will it need more than that?
The film will revolve around the themes of love, relationships, camaraderie etc. as clear from the trailer. The trailer indicates the character of Siddhant being someone with a temper issue. There is the involvement of a drug cartel that will supposedly play the main antagonist in the movie. Apart from it nothing about the plot gets clear.
The cast of the movie, though talented, is not well-recognised. There aren’t faces that can lure in the audience towards the film. This anonymity is highly doubtful to bring in the audience towards the film. Audience will watch the movie only through the action and violence as the pre-requisites. Hence, it will be difficult to pull in people.
Also, as there are a lot of action movies lined up this month, it makes the competition intense, further narrowing the chance of the film’s success. We saw The Greatest of All Times (GOAT) released early this month, and it will run a couple of weeks more before slowing down. Then we have Devara Part 1 lined up to be released on 27th this month, which is a highly anticipated film. Also, Transformers One will be releasing on the same day as Yudhra. All this will make it really difficult for Yudhra to survive through action only.
The film needs a gripping story to be in the limelight and be a hit. Already its chances of getting hit seem to be low, added to it, without a good plot, the retention rate in the theatres will fall as well. If the film offers a great story, through word of mouth, it may go on to earn quite a good amount.
Concludingly, it doesn’t seem like the formula of intense action and violence and gore will work for Yudhra as it did for a few films earlier this year. The film will need a gripping story, stellar performances and added convincing action to make it stand out to others and be a hit.
