As of Thursday at 2:00 PM, the top three national chains had sold about 1.20 lakh tickets for the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao movie.
Due to subsidized ticket prices, which are expected to draw a larger than normal section of the audience, Stree 2 is expected to clock advance bookings in the range of two lakh tickets by midnight for the National Cinema Day across the top three multiplex chains. The film is hoping to collect over Rs 5 crore. Yudhra, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malvika Mohanan, is the second most popular film behind Stree 2. As of Thursday afternoon, it had sold about 60,000 tickets in the top three national chains.
By midnight, the action film helmed by Ravi Udyawar is expected to surpass one lakh pre-sales and target an opening day of approximately Rs 2 crore. The Sohum Shah-led Tumbbad, which is enjoying great success with re-releases, comes in third place on the list.
Before its Friday release, 14,000 tickets have already been sold for the next film in line, Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam. In summary, September 20th is expected to be a significant day at the box office.
