The teaser for Varun Dhawan’s Baby John is here. The movie is an official remake of Atlee and Vijay’s Theri which went on to become a big hit in the Tamil cinema. The movie stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Keerthy Suresh and Jackie Shroff apart from Dhawan.
But, there is a serious problem.
You see, Vikram Vedha starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan was a really good film with all the elements of a blockbuster film. But, it flopped badly.
Drishyam 2 starring Ajay Devgn was also a very good film but it worked pretty well at the box office.
What’s the reason?
People did not watch Drishyam in the original film starring Mohanlal. And what is the reason behind that?
Because it did not have any Hindi dub.
On the other hand, the Hindi dub of Theri is not only there but it is there on YouTube with 38 million views. Yes, the makers may force Goldmines to remove the film eventually but don’t you think it’s a problem.
And that’s the entire problem of Bollywood. They simply don’t have a massy and original content that resonates with the people. We do realise that Kalees might have done a brilliant job but at the same time, those who have watched Theri in original Tamil or even dubbed Hindi may never turn up to watch Baby John at the first place.
