SonyLIV is a really interesting platform. Usually their app is filled with problems, but when they come up with good content, it is not just good. It is usually something that redefines industry standards.
Take the case of Freedom At Midnight. Such an amazing series with top-notch casting.
Take Shark Tank India, for instance. for a lot of platforms, coming up with good non-fiction series is a challenge, but the way SonyLIV came up with Shark Tank is one of the most brilliant examples in the entire OTT industry.
The fourth season of Shark Tank India has started streaming from the 6th of January, and people are not very happy with the overall experience. Let’s talk about content and stuff in a later article, but the situation of ads is really worrisome.
People are simply annoyed by it, not a new thing though.
But we can’t really cancel out their concern. They are paying a hefty premium, and if that is the kind of service they get, it is problematic.
There is the other side of the coin too. Platforms need money to sustain themselves, and ads provide them with money.
Where do you think the balance lies?
@SonyLIV Sharktank starts 8PM and goes on till 11PM with 1hour show and 2 hours ads. Is it justified ? Are you not violating law ?

@SonyLIV is the worst OTT app I have ever used.
Firstly there are ads in spite of paying for prime.
Secondly, Shark Tank India new episode is STILL showing LIVE. It's been live since 8 PM and 12 AM now!
So is 1 hour episode running live for 4 hours? Is this a joke? @MIB_India— Sneha Marathe (@sneha9078) January 7, 2025
@SonyLIV @sharktankindia utter shamelessness
I paid for subscription and yet you are showing ads between shows
These initial 2 months are your only two months where you make big revenue as shark tank is the only thing that is keeping you alive
Its just sad
