The release of Aspirants Season 3 on Prime Video has sparked a wave of intense discussion, proving that the TVF series remains one of the most emotionally resonant dramas in the Indian OTT space. While the latest season has received mostly a positive reception from both critics and audiences, it has also become a lightning rod for debate due to its high-stakes narrative shift and a polarising cliffhanger.
Viewers have loved the third instalment for its willingness to move past the struggles inside the Mukherjee Nagar area and tackle the gritty, often unglamorous realities of power. One of the biggest positives to come out of Season 3 is undoubtedly the clash of egos between DM Abhilash (Naveen Kasturia) and Sandeep Bhaiya (Sunny Hinduja).
Naveen Kasturia’s portrayal of a flawed, often “robotic” protagonist being forced to find his emotional balance is being hailed as his best work yet. Jatin Goswami’s addition as a rival has also been noted for adding a fresh, morally ambiguous layer.
The dual-timeline storytelling continues to be a strong suit, though viewers felt the focus on the past occasionally slowed the momentum of the present-day storyline.
Also, a major point of contention has been the reduced screentime for the supporting characters this season. And then we have Season 3’s ending. While many viewers expressed satisfaction with the emotional closure of certain arcs, a large section of the audience is vocal about their unhappiness with the
cliffhanger ending.
Many believe that the ending raises the stakes for Aspirants Season 4, but it abruptly ends a key character’s journey in the show. There are also complaints that TVF has lost the plotline of the show. It was once a relatable human drama, but with rising stakes, it is now slowly showcasing shades of a thriller and a high-stakes administrative drama. On the other hand, a large number of viewers have loved this shift in the script.
