Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., better known as Raj & DK, are undoubtedly among the biggest filmmakers in India today. The journey of the duo behind Shor in the City (2011), Go Goa Gone (2013), Prime Video’s The Family Man and Farzi, and Netflix’s Guns & Gulaabs began years ago when they were software engineering students dreaming of becoming the filmmakers we know today. Their first film, Flavors, is now streaming on Prime Video, as confirmed by the official Twitter (X) handle of the filmmakers.
Years ago… We were two engineering classmates, working as Software Engineers. But that wasn’t enough. So we alt-tabbed at our workplace to write our first screenplay about the lives we know.

We didn’t want to do a cultural clash or fish out of water kind of story, which was the… pic.twitter.com/4eebaAjuPv
Raj & DK made Flavors back when they knew little about filmmaking and definitely didn’t know much about writing a screenplay. However, they had a plan to present “a non-linear snapshot of the diaspora.” Soon, they opted for “reverse engineering”—in simple terms, they learned as they shot the film. The duo had only a small crew, “bundled in two cars and crammed into a 2 BHK apartment.”
Flavors was shot entirely in a guerrilla style. Raj & DK worked in almost every department: production, direction, writing, filming, editing, and even creating the posters. Anupam Mittal, CEO of People Group and Shaadi.com, co-produced the project with them. The film stars talents such as Reef Karim, Anjan Srivastav, Bharti Achrekar, Pooja Kumar, Rishma Malik, Jicky Schnee, and Mittal himself.
Raj & DK’s Citadel spinoff, Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring the likes of Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, is all set to come out on Prime Video on November 7. Stay tuned for more updates.
