The Bigg Boss 19 house has been rocked by a massive controversy that has quickly spread onto social media, polarising fans and demanding urgent action from the showrunners. Contestant Ashnoor Kaur is under fire and facing calls for her immediate eviction following an incident during the highly contested ‘Ticket To Finale’ task, where she allegedly used a wooden plank to hit fellow housemate Tanya Mittal.
The highly anticipated task in BB19 took no time in turning ugly when Ashnoor, visibly frustrated after losing the task, dropped a wooden plank she was balancing, which appeared to strike Tanya Mittal, who was standing nearby.
While Ashnoor can be heard issuing a quick, almost reflexive apology, saying, “Sorry, I didn’t see,” the clip’s aftermath shows Tanya Mittal confronting the actress, saying, “Teri asliyat toh pura India dekh raha hai” (The whole of India is watching your reality).
Tanya also suggested Ashnoor was unrepentant after the physical contact. The verbal spat quickly escalated, with Ashnoor questioning Tanya, “Were you ever sorry to me for the things you did to me, Tanya?”, a clear reference to the earlier and highly publicised incidents where Tanya, along with other housemates, was seen body-shaming Ashnoor.
The footage from BB19 has ignited an absolute firestorm on social media platforms, as it appears to break the show’s most stringent rule: no physical violence is permitted.
Numerous netizens and even former Bigg Boss contestants have flooded platforms demanding Ashnoor’s instant removal. The hashtag #EvictAshnoorKaur trended rapidly, with many calling her action “straight-up physical violence” and “shameful.”
Opinions are fiercely divided over whether the act was an intentional burst of aggression or an accidental result of frustration and the task’s high-pressure environment.
Adding another layer of complexity, many of Ashnoor’s supporters argue that the act, intentional or not, was a direct consequence of relentless provocation. They highlight Tanya’s prior body-shaming remarks (calling Ashnoor ‘haathi’ and ‘moti’), behaviour that host Salman Khan himself condemned in a previous ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode.
The spotlight is now intensely focused on the showrunners and the upcoming ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode. The Bigg Boss franchise has a zero-tolerance policy for physical aggression, and many contestants have been evicted for similar offences in the past. Fans are holding their breath, waiting to see if Ashnoor Kaur will be the next contestant to face the exit door. Stay tuned for more updates.
Here’s how the fans have reacted to the controversy.
