Dining With The Kapoors: PR Disaster for Ranbir’s Ramayana

Dining With The Kapoors: PR Disaster for Ranbir’s Ramayana

The Netflix special Dining With The Kapoors promised an intimate, heartfelt peek into the lives of Bollywood’s most enduring dynasty, but what it delivered was a deeply polarised response from viewers. The episode, intended as a cozy celebration of family and legacy, has quickly become a big platform for debate, fueling a fiery controversy around its biggest star, Ranbir Kapoor.

The immediate reaction on social media has split cleanly into two fiercely opposed sections. Fans of the Kapoor clan are hailing the special as a “wholesome” and “comfort watch.” They are delighted by the candid moments, the effortless banter between cousins like Kareena and Ranbir, the nostalgia of old family archives, and the genuine warmth shared around the dining table.

Conversely, a substantial portion of the internet is calling the special “boring,” “bland,” and a “waste of time.” Critics argue the episode lacks substance, feeling heavily staged and polished. Many viewers dismissed it as a poor “PR stunt” designed to uplift the family’s image, complete with predictable jokes and sanitised insights that fail to justify a dedicated streaming special.

The conspicuous absence of Alia Bhatt also became a major talking point, fueling questions about the show’s authenticity.

The controversy that has truly set the internet ablaze centers squarely on Ranbir Kapoor and his dietary choices in the special. Ranbir is currently preparing for the monumental role of Lord Ram in the upcoming epic Ramayana.

Leading up to the show’s release, his PR machinery had aggressively promoted the narrative that he had adopted an extremely disciplined, sattvic (vegetarian) lifestyle, abstaining from meat and alcohol as a sign of respect and dedication to the revered mythological figure.

However, a viral clip from Dining With The Kapoors appears to contradict these claims. While the family is shown enjoying a lavish non-vegetarian feast, including dishes like fish curry and mutton, reports and social media posts widely suggest that Ranbir was seen enjoying these meat dishes.

This brewing controversy casts a harsh light on the integrity of celebrity public relations, suggesting a willingness to sacrifice truth for promotional gain, and raising questions about the sincerity of the claims made surrounding the Ramayana production.

Dining With The Kapoors has thus gone from a family celebration to an accidental unmasking, proving that in the age of instant digital scrutiny, even the most glamorous families cannot control every narrative detail. Stay tuned for more updates.
