Disney+ Hotstar has dropped the trailer of its upcoming direct-to-digital release ‘The Storyteller’ and what starts as a sweet story soon turns into conspiracy. Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, ‘The Storyteller’ will premiere only on Disney+ Hotstar on 28th January, 2025.
‘The Storyteller’ trailer begins in Kolkata where a man (Paresh Rawal) who has many amazing stories to tell finds it hard to pen them down as eloquently as a writer should. When a wealthy businessman (Adil Hussain) from Ahemdabad, suffering from chronic insomnia looks for a storyteller to help him get some sleep, the same man from Kolkata takes up the job. Soon enough, as their relationship unfolds, the possibility that both men harbour ulterior motives slowly begins to surface.
Based on Oscar awarded legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s short story “Golpo Boliye Tarini Khuro”, ‘The Storyteller’ had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival and post that went in to screen in various other film festivals across the globe, earning accolades along the way.
Directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, ‘The Storyteller’ is timeless, witty tale exploring the theme of originality versus plagiarism and starring Paresh Rawal, Adil Hussain, Tanishtha Chatterjee and Revathy Asha. Produced by Jio Studios in association with Purpose Entertainment and Quest Films, ‘The Storyteller’ will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on 28th January, 2025.
