Kapil Sharma’s Netflix original- The Great Indian Kapil Show is currently running its second season on the OTT platform. The last season was a substantial hit becoming the most trending show from India on the platform. But this season has experienced a fall in viewership compared to the first season. This is a concerning reason whether the show is no longer able to capture the audience’s attention.
In its recent episode, the show hosted several players from the T20 World Cup Winning Squad of Indian Men’s Cricket Team. The guests in the show included the ICT skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube and Axar Patel. In the last season too, the show had hosted cricketers Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. The episode had been a big hit. But the episode with the World Cup Winning Team too couldn’t escape from the fall of the show.
In the past season, the episode with Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer had a staggering 2.6 million views. In that episode, the cricketers were invited to create a variety to reach a wider audience and also to use their fans as potential viewers. But this time, five players from the T20 World Cup winning team were brought on the show, still it garnered half the views it did in the previous season. The show only had 1.3 million total views for the episode.
This shows the show is actually experiencing a fall and audiences do not find it interesting anymore. The episode first of all was to celebrate India’s victory in the T20 world cup, an event that united the whole country. Second, all the cricketers that featured in the show have a huge fanbase. Third, when Rohit featured in the last season the views were really high. So this episode was sure to succeed.
But the lack experienced in the views are because the show is no more interesting to the audience. The jokes and gags in the show no more tickle the funny bones of the audience. The skits no longer amuse the people. As a result, the show suffers from a lack of viewership.
