Zee5 has seen spectacular growth in the present year. The platform has a 9.25 percent growth in subscription revenue in the second half of 2024.
There has been a staggering 310 percent rise in 4k streaming in North India and a 278 percent growth in South India. The extension of the regional slate is very much responsible for that. There is one more reason behind this huge success. Zee5 has focused more on family friendly shows than any other ones. The platform has regularly delivered narratives with little to less sexual content and also with minimal profanity as well. As the audiences are shifting from television towards OTT, it is important to keep up the integrity of the old family shows and Zee5 has done that perfectly.
Almost 50 percent of the viewership of Zee5 is coming from Tamil and Telugu audiences. There is a significant growth in the Bengali slate also and Zee5 is the only platform that is giving Hoichoi a competition at the moment.
The other national streamers will need to learn from the platform how to diversify their content and also manage to attract family audiences with shows that do not make them uncomfortable. The year has been spectacular for Zee5 and it looks like it will have a steady growth in future as well.
