One of the directorial ventures of Gulzar is now available to watch online after a long time. People have longed to watch this movie but it was not streaming on any OTT platform. And finally it is now streaming on YouTube. We are talking about the 1999 drama ‘Hu Tu Tu’. It is indeed one of the films that can be regarded as the political manifesto of Gulzar and expressed his unapologetic and rebellious attitude through visual poetry. The music of the movie is directed by none other than Vishal Bharadwaj and has some beautiful songs in it.
The cast includes actors like Tabu, Suneil Shetty, Nana Patekar, Mohan Agashe, Suhasini Mulay and others. The performances are beautiful. It tells the story of Panna, the daughter of a chief minister who gets kidnapped by a few goons and discovers that one of the kidnappers is her own former lover.
The movie had to go through many controversies and Gulzar had many disagreements about the structure of the film with the producers. And after the film was done, the director was so disappointed with the result that he thought of leaving filmmaking for good. The available version is still not the Director’s favorite cut, but it still is worth watching.
