This April is already turning out to be a much better month for content delivery from Netflix India compared to March 2026. On April 15, Rajkummar Rao’s much-anticipated black comedy thriller, Toaster, is set to premiere. The actor has bankrolled this title with his wife, and it also stars Sanya Malhotra.
The film has a premise as unique as its title: a notorious miser becomes obsessed with retrieving a wedding gift, a toaster, only to get tangled in a chaotic murder mystery.
While there is a noticeable buzz for Toaster on social media, it faces a massive challenge. It has only 24 hours to claim the spotlight before a wave of heavy hitters arrives to steal the audience’s attention.
On April 16, the “Power Star” Pawan Kalyan lands on the platform with Ustaad Bhagat Singh. Given how well big action mass entertainers and Pawan Kalyan’s past projects, such as They Call Him O.G., have performed on Netflix India, it is expected to dominate the platform’s Top 10 streaming charts. Plus, it will be available in multiple languages, including Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu.
Adding to the mid-week squeeze is Youth, a Tamil coming-of-age sensation also arriving on April 16. Having already earned over INR 60 crores at the box office, this small-budget hit has a huge emotional pull. Its story of a teenager navigating love and heartbreak resonates deeply with younger viewers, the core demographic of streaming platforms.
With Ustaad Bhagat Singh capturing action fans and Youth drawing in drama lovers, Toaster would easily land on any spot on the Top 10 movies list, but it may not end up topping it.
Just as the weekend kicks in, the competition gets even more crowded. On April 17, the romantic drama Do Deewane Iss Seher Main, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur, joins the fray.
Backed by Bhansali Productions, this film brings a certain gloss and star power that Netflix subscribers love for a cosy weekend watch.
For Toaster to succeed, it needs to rely on its word-of-mouth potential. Because it is a unique, character-driven thriller, it must hook viewers instantly on Wednesday. If it doesn’t spark a conversation on social media within those first few hours, it may find itself buried under a mountain of police sirens, teenage heartaches, and big-city romance. Stay tuned for more updates.
