Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (VVKWWV) and Jigra both arrived in theaters on October 11, but now, with Diwali right around the corner, they’re facing new challenges. VVKWWV, starring Rajkummar Rao, had early traction in regions like Delhi and UP, thanks to its relatable storyline and comedic angle. However, its reach in other areas like Gujarat and Maharashtra wasn’t as strong. The film started with promise but has seen a gradual decline in its box office numbers over the weeks.
In week two, VVKWWV maintained daily earnings of around Rs 1 crore, dipping to Rs 65 lakh on Friday before picking up to Rs 1.2 crore on Saturday, taking its total to approximately Rs 39 crore. As the holiday rush approaches, the movie has only a short window left to boost its box office impact. Current estimates suggest it may close around Rs 42 crore—decent but underwhelming for its initial hype.
Jigra, despite featuring Alia Bhatt and generating pre-release excitement, struggled to connect with audiences. This high-budget action drama, around Rs 80 crore in production, has managed to gather only Rs 31.25 crore over 18 days. The film’s numbers sharply declined in its second week, signaling that it hasn’t resonated as expected, leaving it far from recouping its costs.
The duo will have be alert for the moment of big releases such as Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 which will arrive in theatres on Diwali. With anticipation building up for the new releases, Jigra and VVKWWV can expect the curtains to come down sooner than normal, a decisive moment in their careers.
With Diwali around the corner, VVKWWV and Jigra face an uphill battle, as the impending release of crowd-pullers like Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will inevitably dominate the box office. It’s almost surreal to expect either film to hold ground, especially with Diwali audiences likely to flock toward high-energy, festive releases. The buzz around Singham and BB3 could pull audiences away from VVKWWV and Jigra, leaving these two struggling for screen space and dwindling any chance of a box-office revival.
As the festival of Diwali is just around the corner, both Jigra and VVKWWV will be lucky if they get a longer run in theatres. As holiday viewers fill the other new releases, these films could just wilt in the audience’s presence.
