Bigg Boss 19 is undoubtedly shaping up to be one of the most divisive seasons in the show’s history. With rising allegations of favouritism, bias, reduced screen time for fan-favourite contestants, and ongoing complaints about the voting process, this season has dampened the mood of a large section of the fanbase.
Now, in a baffling move, JioHotstar has quietly removed nearly all previous seasons of the iconic reality show, across Hindi and various regional languages, leaving only the current season available.
This mass digital purge couldn’t have come at a worse time, as a significant portion of the show’s loyal audience is already calling Bigg Boss 19 a massive disappointment and arguably the weakest season in the franchise’s history.
The decision comes as a major blow to longtime fans. Previous seasons hold enormous rewatch value, serving as a nostalgic comfort zone for viewers who’ve grown up with the show.
While the move might be an attempt to force audiences to focus solely on the current, struggling Season 19, or perhaps a result of expiring content licenses (a common, though unconfirmed, industry explanation), the optics are undeniably poor.
Even worse, the removal of regional editions (Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, and others) further alienates the show’s massive multilingual audience.
For a platform positioning itself as a dominant OTT player, this decision is a serious misstep, one that risks long-term viewer trust for the sake of a short-term content push around a controversial season.
