Jolly LLB 3 has finally made its OTT debut on Netflix. For those of you who missed this Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi starrer in theatres, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy it from the comfort of your homes. As expected, early reviews for the threequel have begun pouring in, and viewers are sharing their thoughts on social media after its OTT release.
The overarching sentiment among OTT audiences is a mix of warm appreciation and frustrated nostalgia. Viewers have widely praised the contrasting comedic styles of the leads, Warsi’s subtle, dry humour versus Kumar’s more physical, over-the-top antics. This “Jolly vs Jolly” dynamic has been deemed entertaining and the biggest highlight.
As always, Saurabh Shukla as Judge Sunder Lal Tripathi is the scene-stealer. His performance is being hailed as a masterclass and the soul of the narrative. Like its predecessors, the film tackles a hard-hitting, real-world issue: land acquisition and farmer struggles.
For OTT viewers, who often seek content with strong social commentary, the film’s powerful message and emotional courtroom climax resonated well, with many applauding the traditional, stirring monologues.
However, Jolly LLB 3 is not without flaws. Many viewers feel the central case, the fight for justice against a powerful businessman (played by Gajraj Rao), is not as tightly written or as challenging as the cases in the earlier instalments. The overall plot is considered mid.
Another major criticism is the addition of unnecessary masala elements that detract from the core courtroom drama. Many also feel that Warsi’s character is underutilised, especially in the second half, with Kumar receiving significantly more focus.
While Jolly LLB 3 is arguably the weakest of the trilogy, it remains a highly engaging and entertaining film that fits perfectly into the OTT space. It succeeds in its primary mission, which is bringing back the beloved legal troublemakers for one last chaotic, humorous, and ultimately heartfelt case. Stay tuned for more updates.
